It has been a long, tiring week: five straight days of chemo is not something I would encourage anyone to try. But it is over now and I am feeling much better. I had fatigue like I have never experienced before; the other side-effects were minimal. The bloody noses are back as is the nasty [...]

This will be slightly different than before primarily in that I will not be using oxaliplatin, the nasty drug that causes most of my dreaded side-effects. It is also [...]

This past Sunday I was exposed to an amazing realization thanks to my friend Lee McDerment. Over the past few weeks, I have struggled with the idea of having cancer. I have attempted to retain the idea that there is a purpose in this and that good can come of it.
I know that God is [...]

The past few weeks have been a time of complexity for me. So much is happening on so many fronts that it is difficult to get my mind around it all. It is as if I have a series of buckets categorizing the different facets of life and each bucket is full. It seems unlikely [...]

In 1939 a movie called Mr. Smith Goes to Washington was released. It starred James Stewart and Jean Arthur. The movie is about corrupt congressman and the green newbie, Jefferson Smith (Stewart), who attempts to change all that is un-American. Our country was different then. Before the Senate convened, they had an opening prayer. Stewart [...]
