My Love.

This is Mandy, Zachary James Smith, went to be with Jesus at 3:05 p.m. on Sunday May 16th.  He is no longer in pain. The cancer has lost and Jesus has the victory in all of this. The battle has been won. I know you all loved Zac, and his presence is missed in our home. Please pray for peace and comfort for my family, as we now  figure out how to continue his story to the best of our ability. Watch out because those kids of ours, well let’s just say they have a lot of wisdom from Zac in those little heads.  I cannot wait to see what God has in store for them.

Death cannot take away what is already His. To God be the glory. Always.

-Mandy

Mandy, I am truely sorry for this loss. It is a gain in heaven but a loss on earth. Zac was truely a wonderful man who cared about so many people. He was fun, encouraging, and genuine. Mandy, you are also all of those things too. You are strong and courageous and I have no doubt in my mind that you and your children will prosper and continue his legacy. Know that many of us are praying for you and know that you are not alone in this struggle. Whether, we are in relationship with your simply praying for you, you are not alone. I pray that God’s presence will be stronger than ever.

  19. Ellie T. says:

What to say to you in this time…..

I too am a wife of a warrior…..a spouse to someone battling cancer. And it is our faith, too, that has guided us on this unique journey. I want to tell you how I stumbled on your blog weeks ago and how many entries gave me comfort. God is still God and God is still good became my new mantra.

My heart’s instinct is to feel such sorrow and loss for you. But I am really TRYING to be filled with joy…..joy at the life your husband lived….joy at the true gifts he left you and the kids with….joy that you both found love in each other and deep love in the Lord (which some people never find even if they live to 90).

Just know I am in awe of you all. I will keep you in my prayers.

I am Herschel Horton’s cousin. He told me of your loss but heaven’s gain in bringing Zach into the presence of Jesus. Herschel’s testimony of what Zach meant to him moved me to tears and I am grateful for the blessings God provided to Herschel in the person of Zach. What a warrior and example Zach was. I pray for you as you pick up where Zach left off, in Gods divine plan. Blessings to you and your family.

    Mandy, Jake, Lizzy, & Luke,
I am so sorry for your loss and grieve with you that Zac is no longer amongst us. Although I only knew him for a little while before he left CA – I admired his devotion to serve the Lord Jesus first and his steadfastness in putting his family ahead of his career. God is truly good and used Zac’s love & encouragement to minister to his family, friends and co-workers for His glory. May the God of comfort & peace carry you through these times and may you find rest and hope in God’s promise that we will re-unite with our Lord and our loved ones in the future and we will never be separated again (1Thess. 4:16-17). My family & I are praying for you… in-Christ, TCTN

  24. Mama Dalton says:

Mandy, I woke Sunday morning with this scripture on my mind. I had sent the second part to Zac when you guys were going to the mountains. Then, the second two were my daily devotion, and again he filled my thoughts and prayers. I think God was again talking to me specifically about Zac; I think I knew. Regardless, I believe these scriptures speak of him, and of God’s will through him, and of God’s care of him.

No four could have been better prepared to wait to be with Zac in Eternity, and no four people will be more cared for while he waits for you.

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth; it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:12

“Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Proverbs 19:21
“…to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.” Luke 1:79

Praying for your family! I stand in awe of Zac’s faith through his journey. Mandy,
We are praying…no doubt about it. My Dad has colon cancer, which we found out about 2 days after watching Zac’s video. Talk about heart preparation! Zac’s faith, courage and tender heart toward the Lord..his utter dependenc upon Him is a testimony and has had a huge impact on so many already. I continue to share your story with others and they are always touched by it…May the peace of God reign in your home.. Know that He dances over you…He sings over you…He holds you in His hands and He is victorious…now and always.

    Bless you all.

    Mandy,

I will be praying for you and your family as you go through this time. I mostly knew Zac from elementary school at the Alliance Academy. We were in the same class. From reading this blog, I could see how much Zac loved you and your kids and wanted to do everything he could to be present with you as long as he could and to provide for you. The wisdom that God gave him to share with others was much appreciated. I’m sure that Zac’s testimony has touched the hearts of many people.

God bless you and care for you and your three precious children.

    Mandy and Kids,

Zack and I attended the AAI in Quito years ago. I graduated class of 1992. I was not aware of his illness until some friends from Facebook posted his video. What an amazing story and an encouragement to all. Zack’s legacy will live on and we rejoice that he is in the presence of our maker. Our prayers are with you and your family.

    In Christ,
    Carla

  34. Marcos Mota says:

    Hello Mandy,

We are a Brazilian family and that we follow the story of Zac here. We watch and spread the video on Youtube made by him and also put in our church, they were all amazed by his story and his entire family and then we saw we were rooting for his recovery, but unfortunately it was God’s will to carry it to be by his side. And to understand that he was better, as you yourself said, the cancer lost. We are praying for you here in Brazil and we hope in God that He will provide every comfort.

    In the love of Christ!

  37. Nancy says:

Praying for you as you navigate these first lonely days with your children. I hope you’ll be able to feel some surprising moments of comfort from the Holy Spirit, and I pray that your grief and anger will be soothed eventually by the knowledge that you’ll see Zac again with Jesus.

  38. Lisa Poole says:

Mandy and kids: May the peace that Zac had in the midst of all the suffering cover you all today and forever as you walk through this and see what God will do to still draw people to Him from Zac’s life and passing. I watch New Spring online, and heard about Zac today and watched the video of him on Perry’s blog and read some of Zac’s blog. The ones written about how to minister in the midst of your suffering really stretched and comforted me. Zac has shown by example that whatever God allows, we can still minister, even when stilled or more confined. Praying for all of you. What a reunion it will be someday in heaven for you all. In Christ- Lisa
