Heaven Is More Than Enough
I have spent many hours thinking and reflecting on what will happen to me upon my death. It occurs to me now that much of that has been quite selfish.
I suppose I have always wondered about heaven. What will it be like? There is so much we know about heaven from the Bible and there is so much more that pop culture has added to that. What will it really be like?
But then I got cancer and my life suddenly seemed shorter. What heaven will be like has become somewhat more of a pressing question to me.
I know I am going to heaven because of my belief in Jesus. I believe the Bible to be true; the Bible makes it clear that belief in Jesus as the solution to my sin problem is the only way to get to heaven. So I know I am going — and possibly soon — and who of us about to embark on a voyage does not wish to know something about the destination?
I used to think of heaven as a giant chorale or worship service where we sat around singing songs for eternity. This, selfishly, was not attractive to me. As I study about heaven I realize there are others that think that heaven may be more of a civilization. It may be that there are tasks to be done and we will be given jobs to do. These jobs will be commensurate with our abilities and effectiveness on earth. I find this option far more attractive.
But I realized something the other day: what a selfish moron I am!
I have accepted a free gift of eternal life in the presence of the Creator God and His Son, Jesus, who selflessly sacrificed His own body for my salvation and I am worried if I will have to sing too much?!?
If I am allowed to enter heaven and take one step inside and remain their motionless for all of eternity, that will be more than enough — and certainly more than I deserve. If my time is completely consumed with worshiping God, then I will be content; that will be more than enough. Thanks be to God for the incredible gift of heaven.

Great perspective, Zac! Thanks and we’re praying for you daily.
Zac, first off, just let me say that you and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers on and off all day, every day.
Second, I just wanted to share that my thoughts have been on Heaven a lot lately, too. My precious Dad went to Glory in November, and what a joy it was knowing that his place at the banquet table had been prepared for him there. I believe my brother was there to greet him, along with other friends and loved ones in Christ who went before him. I have spent a lot of time trying to imagine what his precious eyes see and his ears hear now. The one thing I am sure of is that we will be awestruck in the presence of our Lord.
Zac, thank you so much for sharing your faith and your journey with us through this blog. God is using you in ways that you don’t even know. To God Be The Glory, great things He has done . . .
Hmmm…the thought that comes to mind after reading this is that we really live in a feel good society..if it feels good, do it. Our prayers so often can sound like…Dear God, please make me safe, comfortable, healthy, and happy….when they should say..make me holy, at all cost…sigh…
Makes me wonder what we will finally get to know about the depth of God’s love for us. Every day on this earth we understand more, but imagine what it will be like when we aren’t looking through that darkened glass . . . I don’t think we will be surprised, but I think we will be overwhelmed when we realize just how huge His love is for us. I so look forward to looking into His eyes for the first time.
Zac,
You have been an inspiration to me and Don and I have been praying for you! I remember as a kid singing the song “Heaven is a wonderful place” and wondering about what it means and what it will be like. I know my finite mind can not even imagine what awaits us in a perfect place with an Almighty God who loves us so much that his son, Jesus, would come to earth and make a way for us to reach his Father.
I know my trust is in Him, I know it will be perfect, I know I will love it because of who it is who has prepared it for me. I accept all of that by faith and the closer it gets for us the more I think about it also.
We pray often for you, your family and loved ones. Thank you for sharing your faith, your love for the Savior, and your honesty.
God bless you as you are an instrument for God teaching all of us some pretty amazing thoughts and insights.
Anxious to see you!
I’m reading and learning. Keep on posting. I never cease to be amazed at God’s infinite worth and the joy of worshiping him. Thanks for your thoughts. You and your family are in my prayers often–several times today, in fact.
zac, i’m a fellow whiskerino and more importantly, a brother in Christ!
i am inspired by your story and pray that you live life to its fullest!
can’t wait to see you in eternity…we’ll be having our own throwdown!
Hey Zac, I just saw your profile in whiskerino – my brother is doing it this year – and I just wanted to say I was saddened to hear of your cancer, but also joyful that you are a Christian, so even though death is bearing down on you, you know the next leg of the journey, and it will be a good one. I hope and pray that if it’s God’s will you will be healed, but even if that isn’t his will, that you have a relatively painless time, and that God will be with you and your family and give you strength in this time.
So even though we’re half the world away now, and baring illness or freak accident I have quite a number of years left here, I hope to meet you one day in heaven. You have made my night, to find a fellow Christian who is remaining strong in a hard time, and loves his beard.
God bless you,
Dan.
Hey Zac,
I love your heart man.
I found out about your story through Whiskerino, I was also a part this year.
I will tell you… singing, dancing, praising, meditating… whatever…. it will NEVER get old. I do this on a daily/hourly/minute to minute basis. He is eternity, never ending.
Thankfully, we don’t have to wait until we get to heaven to experience waves of what it’s like to worship God almighty/live in heaven. The bible says the kingdom of heaven is on the inside of us! Christ lives in us!
The bible also says that “by His stripes we are healed.” Every single past, present, and future sin, disease, you name it, were laid upon him. He even took the keys of DEATH! Revelations 13:8 “the Lamb was slain from the creation of the world.” He was slain before the world was created! [1 Peter 1:18-20]
Truth be told, you are healed. Biblically, you are healed. I’m not certain where you are in faith, it doesn’t matter really… God loves us, He gave His only Son for us! Certainly He wouldn’t have us suffer from any sort of disease, right? “The enemy comes to ’steal, kill & destroy’.”
Please read this from a perspective of love. I simply want to share the revelatory-truth the Lord has given me. Contact me anytime if you’d like to talk… I’d love to pray with you.

Zac,
Sue Inzunza sent an email this morning which prompted me to check out your blog updates. I see you have been doing some Heaven research, and wondered if you have read the book “Heaven” by Randy Alcorn. Its all biblical based, and covers much of what you said above, but might provide you either the validation you need to hear or even address other topics you haven’t thought of.
My prayers are with you. You are such an inspiration to everyone around you.
God Bless,
Diane
