Filling The Void

Here is something I have recently learned: We all represent someone unique and we all will leave a void. After discovering that I had cancer, I spent the past few months trying to plan ahead for what will happen after I die. I have tried to find all the places where I foresee a void and then fill those voids with other people or better processes. But it seems that no matter how much I plan and prepare, there is always something else that cannot be filled.

I can teach Mandy to pay bills; I can teach Lizzy to watch our for her little brothers; I can teach Jake and Luke to be men of the house. But I can never replace myself.

If I could replace my own void with someone else, then what is the purpose of me? If we are truly unique (we are), then we each have a void that cannot be filled. We are here in this space and in this time for a purpose. Do not think for a moment that you are just a being waiting for eternity. We were made for eternity, but we are here for a reason.

Get to work in the here and in the now.
