Hearts As Streams Of Water

I have been fascinated, as of late, with my interactions with God. There has been a closeness and an interaction that I have not previously enjoyed in my life. I wish I could attribute this to having cancer or maybe to having a fantastic moral life but I realize it is only through the grace of God that I am able to enjoy this relationship. I read a couple of passages this week that highlight how I feel.

Proverbs 21:1 — The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.

Ezra 1:1 — In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia…

Ezra 1:5 — Then rose up the heads of the fathers’ houses of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and the Levites, everyone whose spirit God had stirred to go up to rebuild the house of the Lord that is in Jerusalem.

God is able to stir the hearts and spirits of humanity. He works sovereignly through responsible human agents to accomplish His plan. I do not yet know all that is in God’s plan for me, but I am excited that He is stirring my spirit.
