Chemo, Part V

I am, once again, hanging out in the chemo ward. It is a packed house today. I’m still the youngest and the only one with a laptop.

Two of my favorite nurses are leaving this job. That makes me sad.

The big change this round is that my dosage of Eloxatin (Oxaliplatin) was reduced by 25%. The way chemotherapy works is that the largest dose possible is given at the beginning. Since I am tall and [now quite] skinny, my dosage was very strong. Now, at a reduced dosage, I should be able to endure more of the drug for longer — meaning more drug total in my body. This is good news in that the side effects (pain when eating, no cold drinks, neuropathy in my fingers) should be lessened somewhat.

Some other good news is that I changed my schedule a little bit in September. I get to have two weeks off during my anniversary and birthday. My birthday is just under a month away. I may just make it to 33! :)

Also, I am scheduled for my next PET Scan on September 14th — results on September 15th. I am excited about that.

Thanks for the prayers, the encouragement and the support. Join me in praying for the other 30 folks also getting poisoned near me right now.
