On Trusting God — For This Life & Beyond
I read this in Isaiah today:
Isaiah 12:2 — Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation.
This is good stuff. This is a reiteration of part of the Song of Moses in Exodus 15 (verse 2) which succeeded the successful crossing of the Red Sea and Israel’s exodus from Egypt. This passage shows me that we can lean on God for what we need in this life. And that would be enough. But it was not enough for Him. God is the initiator of our salvation. We can trust Him when things are hard; we can trust Him when there is no evidence of Him; we can trust Him no matter what.
I heard a great message from Andy Stanley this morning. In it he talks about the disciples of Jesus. If we could ask them when their darkest time was, they would have said that it started with the supper in the upper room that preceded the arrest, trial and death of Jesus. If we could then ask them when the time was that God was doing the most work, they would have said that it was during those very same moments. In other words, it is often during the darkest times that God does the most amazing works.
So lean on God. You can trust Him. For this life and beyond.

I would like to hear the Andy Stanley message you mentioned on your July 5 post. Is it online somewhere? I checked the Northpoint website but only the sermon series are listed. Let me know if its available online somewhere. Thank you, Russ Borg
