Why You Should Take A Bible With You To The Hospital

I spent about eight days in the hospital. Much of the time that I was not sleeping or trying to sleep I spent reading. What follows are a few passages that I found interesting from the Bible.

Exodus 15:26 — [the Lord said], “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.”

Revelation 19:9 — And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”

Isaiah 40:11 (Mandy read this whole chapter to me, but this verse stuck out to me): — He will tend to his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.

Job 24:22 — Yet God prolongs the life of the mighty by his power; they rise up when they despair of life.

1 Peter 5:10 — And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthem, and establish you.

2 Corinthians 3:11-12 — For if what was being brought to an end came with glory, much more will what is permanent have glory. Since we have such a hope, we are very bold.

Psalm 128 — Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. The Lord bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life! May you see your children’s children! Peace be upon Israel!

While it is less expressive of your creative juices, I must admit I appreciate this post more than the previous. Much more hopeful and comforting. Besides, the poem didn’t rhyme anyway…

    Hey Zac,
I have been praying for you every day and for Mandy, the kids and your folks. The passages you shared are awesome Rema from the Word and I pray God gives you much more of that in the days ahead. We can all live through anything when we know we are hearing from God. You are loved and God is going to use this bad thing for your good and His glory somehow. My specific prayer is that God heals you miraculously with or without the meds and that your testimony will touch the lives of many others. I also have prayed that your faith in suffering will be seen by many and encourage all. Love to your family. Psalm 103….forget not his benefits!

Zac: One of the times I was sitting by your bed, I was reading your Bible. You opened your eyes and said, “Mom, read 1 Peter 5:10.” Then you closed your eyes again. I read it outloud. That was a special moment for me. I love you very much and thank God several times a day for you and your family.

    Zac,

I love reading your thoughts and the journey the Lord is leading you in. My heart still aches for you and your family, but Garett and I both have this confidence that the Lord is healing your body and will continue until he completes that good work that He has begun.

We do not say that lightly as we had been through several bible studies all leading up to receiving the news. We were actually in a time of prayer and fasting for 7 days and the Lord was speaking and of course we were seeking Him for our own lives, then we found out what was taking place in the Smith family and realized that all those studies and promises …..(which were all in regards to healings and miracles by the way…can’t wait to share them with you) were given to us for you.

We are standing firmly on those promises, not waivering, we know what the Lord has spoken, and we are fully convinced that He will do it.

We love you and hope to see you soon
