interTWINed
Some of you may know that my lovely wife, Mandy, is a twin. These past few days have been rough; Mandy’s twin brother, Mickey, passed away last Sunday. We both got to spend some time in Phoenix this week while my sister ably cared for the kids. It was good to be present as a family during this most difficult time. Mandy wanted to say something at the funeral, so I wrote a poem with her. She read it and did great. It was concise, honest, and uplifting. Here it is:
Our genders were distinct;
I was daddy’s little girl,
You were mommy’s little boy.Our bodies were not the same,
But we shared our youth.
We were siblings – friends,
Competitors – classmates – teammates.Our maturity brought distance;
We retained our closeness.
Our passions brought distinction,
Our desires gave us uniqueness.
You loved sports and movies,
And poker and Elvis.
I love babies and flowers,
And cooking and puppies.
We unanimously share, though
A love for the Creator.
Intertwined together on earth
And then some day in heaven.
It did not seem fair:
Thirty years of my bodily freedom;
While you were restrained:
You found freedom in your purpose.
Now you have the ultimate –
Freedom forever.
In a body of newness
Changed and unrestrained.
What we sow does not
Come to life unless it dies.
May your impact on earth
Be increased in your absence.
I miss you, my brother, my friend.
Although my sorrow is deep,
I joyfully look ahead
To our eternal celebration…
Together.

We’ve been praying for you all this week. The poem is awesome. love you both, ujm
Mandy’s time speaking and reading that poem, and the video at the end of the service were the two most amazing moments to me.
It was nice to see the two of you.

Hey Zac,
I just wanted to say that I am praying for God’s comfort and bottomless peace to reign in your’s and Mandy’s families during this time of sorrow.
“I’ll see you when I get there,
shinning like the Son.
I’ll see you when I get there,
into your arms I’ll run.
I’ll see you when the wind blows,
running without fear.
Born to rest in your father’s arms,
your joy has dried the tears…”

Mandy and Zac, our thoughts have been with you all week. Our prayers are simple: God be close. God get the glory.
We love you.
I love this poem. It was one of the most beautiful parts of a beautiful service.
I’m so sorry. He sounds like a remarkable person!
May your impact on earth
Be increased in your absence….. Perfect!
Bless you all!
Mandy,
I am so sorry. I pray God will touch those places in your heart that only he can go. There are no words that can comfort or bring peace like God. I know how much he meant to you by all that you shared about him. I know he was so special, called by God and obediant to His calling. I know he will be greatly missed by you, your family, and all the lives that he has touched. We love you and your family a ton!
Love,
Frisby Fam
